VERSION 2026-10-11.3
Privacy notice
We collect a parent's email, a child's nickname and grade, their practice results, and the tests they sit. Nothing else. No ads, no trackers, and we never sell or share your data.
Who we are
Vigyaniq is a practice app for CBSE students, run by Naveen Shahi (vigyaniq.com). We decide how your data is used, so we are responsible for it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Parents create accounts, not children
Only a parent or guardian aged 18 or over can create an account and add a child; someone they invite as a sponsor (below) must also be 18 or over. A child joins only with a one-time code from their parent. When you add a child, you give your consent, as their parent or guardian, for us to keep the information below. You can take it back at any time by deleting the child or your account.
The parent who creates the family (its primary account) can invite up to 19 sponsors, anyone who cares about the children, such as the other parent, a grandparent, a relative or a family friend, each with a one-time link. A sponsor creates their own account, confirms they are 18 or over, agrees to this notice, and says whether they are the children's parent or another sponsor. Everyone in a family sees each other's email address and all the family's children, their progress, results and earnings. Only the primary account adds or deletes a child, sets up the children's devices, and invites or removes sponsors; a sponsor can leave the family at any time. Removing or leaving takes away only that person's access to the children, not their account.
What we keep
- Your email and password
- To let you sign in. The password is stored scrambled by our sign-in service; we never see it.
- Your consent
- When you agreed, and to which version of this notice.
- Your child's nickname and grade
- To greet them and show the right chapters. Please use a nickname, not their real name.
- Your child's practice results
- For each answer: which question type, the option chosen, right or wrong, how many seconds it took, and when. We use these only to show progress to your child and to you.
- Your family
- Which parents and sponsors share which children, when each joined, and whether they said they are a parent or another sponsor.
- Tests
- For each test you or your child create: the question paper, who created it, when it was created, scheduled for, started and submitted, how long it took, and its marks question by question (what was written, the marks given and what was missing). Your child photographs their own handwritten answer sheets to submit them; the photos are kept privately only until the test is marked, and never longer than 7 days. To mark them, the photos and the paper are read by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, run for us inside Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock); Amazon and Anthropic do not keep them or use them to train models. The marks are kept until you delete your child.
- Payments you record
- Vigyaniq children are always paid for their practice, into their own UPI account. So we keep your child's UPI ID, which you confirm is their own account when you add it; only you and the family's sponsors see the ID (your child's phone is told only that one is saved). For each payment you record, we keep the amount and when you recorded it, so you and your child see what is earned, paid and still owed. They are deleted with your child.
- Guru-dakshina you record
- For each month you pay Vigyaniq its guru-dakshina, we keep the month, the amount and when you recorded it, so you see what is paid. You pay through Razorpay (UPI, card or net banking): Razorpay processes your payment under its own privacy policy (razorpay.com/privacy), the Razorpay page is loaded from checkout.razorpay.com only when you tap Pay, and we never see, hold or move your money and never see your bank, card or UPI details. Your child's phone never shows it. It is deleted with your child.
- Show some love
- If you agree when you first share your child's "Show some love" link, anyone with the link (a grandparent, a friend, another family) sees your child's nickname and UPI ID, with no account, so they can send ₹1 to ₹100 from their own UPI app. We never see, hold or move that money. For each gift we keep the amount, the name the sender typed (if any) and when; your child and the family's sponsors see them. They are deleted with your child.
- Challenges your child shares
- When your child taps "Challenge a friend", we keep a copy of that day's practice: their nickname, the questions in order, and for each one right or wrong and how many seconds it took. Anyone with the link can play it, with no account; nothing a friend answers is kept. The link stops working after 30 days, or at once if you delete your child.
- Challenges a sponsor sets
- Any sponsor can set a child a challenge: a chapter to master, or a test her progress has unlocked (open for a day; each one sponsored by one sponsor at a time). For each sponsor and child we keep what the child calls them (for example "Dada"), which they give when they join or on Your family. For each challenge we keep the chapter or test, that name, which sponsor set it, and when it was set, done or ends. Your child sees the challenge and that name; the family's sponsors see the challenges too. A sponsored test earns ₹1 a mark like any test, shown in Earnings as sponsored by that sponsor; there is no separate bonus, and we never move any money. They are deleted with your child, and the name with the sponsor's link to the child.
- Cheers
- The family's parents, family and friends can cheer your child's journey in Charita: a reaction (clap, heart, fire, or fingers crossed for a test ahead) or a reply of up to 100 characters; your child can reply too. Parents and family can also send love of ₹11, ₹51 or ₹101 with an optional note. Love is paid through Razorpay (UPI, card or net banking) and Vigyaniq receives it: Razorpay processes the payment under its own privacy policy (razorpay.com/privacy), its page is loaded from checkout.razorpay.com only when you send love, and we never see your bank, card or UPI details. The love shows, and is added to your child's Bhiksha, only once it is paid; to know what to mark paid, the Razorpay order carries your child's and your account numbers in our app, the event and the amount. For each cheer we keep the event it is on, who sent it, when, and the reply, amount or note, and for love the Razorpay order and whether it is paid. Your child and everyone in the family see the cheers and who sent them, by what your child calls them; friends never see love or any amount. They are deleted with your child, and a member's own cheers when they leave the family or delete their account.
- Live status
- The family's phones show, as it happens, whether your child is practising (and which chapter), is in a test (and how many minutes are left), or when she last studied or was last seen, with how many questions she answered today. For this we keep only the latest: the time and chapter of her last answer, today's count, when her test ends, and when she last opened the app. Each one replaces the one before; no history is kept. She can switch "last seen" off on her phone: then the family sees only that she is practising or in a test right now, and today's count. Cheers and test changes reach the family's open phones at once; what they carry is read from your family account, as the pages always do. It is deleted with your child.
- Who is watching
- Your child's phone shows which family members have her Charita or Tests open right now, by the name she calls them. For this we keep only the latest for each family member: since when and until when they last had it open. Each family member's first view of each test result is kept (who, which result, when) and shown as "Seen by" to your child and the family. Friends are never recorded and never see it. It is deleted with your child.
- Your child's devices
- A scrambled copy of each device's key, its type (for example "Android phone") and when it was added and last used, so you can see and remove them.
- Ask Vigyaniq and feedback
- The questions it answers are not kept. The advice you give it, and the questions it can't answer, are kept with the page, the type of device, screen size and app version, with no name, email or account, for 180 days, so we can improve the app.
- Technical logs
- Error records from our servers, kept for up to 30 days to fix problems.
What we never collect
A child's email, phone number, real name, birth date, school, photo of them or location. (Photos of a test's answer sheets are of the paper only, and are deleted once it is marked.) We show no ads and use no third-party trackers or analytics.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your child's progress in step across their devices.
- To show your child and you how they are doing.
- To improve questions, using totals across all students (for example, which questions are missed most), never a named child.
Where it is kept
On Amazon Web Services servers in Mumbai, India. Amazon runs our servers and sends our sign-in emails and receives mail sent to support@vigyaniq.com, which we read and answer; it may use your data only to provide that service to us. A message you send us is kept for 7 days in Amazon storage while it is passed on, and for as long as we need to answer you in our own inbox.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Deleting a child or your account in the app removes the data at once (if another parent or sponsor shares your children, they stay with them); our backups keep copies for up to 14 days, after which they are gone too.
Your choices
- See it: your child's progress is on their page under Parent account.
- Delete it: on that page, "Delete this child and their progress", or "Delete my account" for everything.
- Remove a device: tap your child, then "Remove" next to the device.
- Leave a family or remove a sponsor: Your family, then Sponsors.
- Anything else, such as correcting something or a complaint: write to support@vigyaniq.com. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change this notice, the version above changes and we ask you to agree again before you add a child.
